Alan and Cherisse's story begins on September 23rd, 2022. In Alan's first week as a new transfer student at Cal Poly, he decides to go on a hike with a Christian club on campus called Cru. Cherisse, a 2nd year at Cal Poly, just so happened to be the student leader in Cru planning this hike! Cherisse was so nervous that no one would show up, and who is the first person to show up at this hike? You guessed it, it was Alan!

Not long after the hike, Alan and Cherisse were at another Cru social event. At this game night, Alan became interested in Cherisse after she had made a funny joke about Lightning McQueen. Alan also started to visit her at Red Radish where she worked on Cal Poly's campus. Often times he wouldn't even go to get food, he would just go to see Cherisse. Over time, Alan saw Cherisse's heart for Jesus and was enamored. Her servant heart and love for others captivated him.

After being really good friends for the majority of the school year, Cherisse came to see Alan as more than a friend. His patience, humor, and deep love for God captured her heart and they began dating in the fall, nearly a year after they met for the first time.
