Astoria, not just for the "Goonies" or "Kindergarten Cop" and a great stop for lunch or the night on your way south to Arch Cape. The perfect blend of mariners, artists, musicians, and pubs. After all, it's where we fell in love!
If you want to stick closer by the venue, check out:
Short Sands: a popular surf spot inside Oswald West State Park, with adjacent hiking and running options on the Cape Falcon Trail.
Cannon Beach: Haystack Rock is popular at low tide for good reason.
Elk Flats: Just a short hike down from the car to big sea cliffs. Feels otherworldly. A popular photo op spot on the Oregon Coast.
Neahkahnie Mountain: switchbacks lead through rainforest to the summit, with sweeping views of Nehalem Bay and Manzanita. Worth it for the view on a clear day!
Indian Beach (Ecola State Park): a more secluded but popular surf beach. The original "Point Break" and "Twilight" were filmed here!
