Life sure has a funny and unique way of bringing people together. In our case it couldn’t be more true. The story starts as a “date” set up by one of Alana’s coworkers who happened to have met me prior and thought the two of us would enjoy each other’s company. One could say it wasn’t the most ideal of places to meet someone for the first time due to being loud and crowded. Conversation was had and numbers exchanged. So everything seemed to be heading in the right direction at least from Jon’s end (he may or may not be writing this and is very bias...) one phone call goes missed, a second phone call and still crickets. I was officially GHOSTED! Didn’t even know what it was until I got clued in later in my dating life. You would think this would deter most people and it did me. No I really mean it did, we went about our lives as a couple people normally would. We dated other people and moved up in our jobs only to be reunited 6 years later at another loud and crowded establishment which couldn’t have been more coincidental. You see I wasn’t even supposed to be in Springfield that night and Alana just happened to be out with co-workers for a bowling event. She was sober, tired and ready to call it a night due to having to get up early for work the next day. Being the designated driver she was killing it in that arena. I, however, was not qualified as a designated anything and was, I’m sure, in impressive shape. We reconnected as soon as we saw each other and I may have thrown a jab or four about being ghosted all those years ago. Funny anecdote to the story is she was going up to Wisconsin the following week for a job interview which would have kept us from meeting the second time. We feel blessed that we found our way back to each other and we couldn’t be happier. This will also help explain our heading of from ghosted to toasted which beat out my other one of from ditched to hitched. So that’s our story and we can’t wait to make it official this October!
