Downtown La Jolla has lots to offer, including shops, restaurants, and ocean views. Walk along the Cove to enjoy the views, and to watch the famous La Jolla seals. Continue on to the Coast Walk for a short trail with beautiful views! You can also pop into the Cave Store at the trail head and for $10 venture into a tunnel down to a sea cave.
La Jolla Shores is just down the hill from Downtown La Jolla, and where Dylan and Alana live. It is a great flat beach, with mellow waves. We recommend renting a kayak or taking a kayak tour from one of the many shops along Avenida De La Playa. You are sure to see some sea life and may get to kayak through the sea caves.
One of our favorite beaches and not too far from Downtown La Jolla. The waves can be a little rough here but it is a beautiful beach and more of a locals spot.
A great coastal hike just north of La Jolla! Multiple paths and loops along the seaside cliff that will eventually lead you down to the beach. If your hungry after the hike grab some tacos from Roberto's Taco shop in Del Mar.
One of our favorite La Jolla spots to grab lunch or dinner! Casual with great fresh seafood. In Downtown La Jolla, no reservations needed.
Sit down restaurant for good tacos and margaritas. Make sure to get a taco with crispy cheese! In Downtown La Jolla, reservations recommended.
Around the corner from our apartment, we often go here for a date night or lunch with the parents. Good Italian food in La Jolla Shores. Reservations recommended.
Alana's favorite bakery and Dylan's sure-fire way to put a smile on her face. We love to pick up sandwiches and cookies (and scones for the next morning :) ) and walk down to Calumet park for a picnic. You can check their website for their weekly pastry and sandwich offering.
Downtown La Jolla - Sugar and Scribe, Brockton Villa (great view!), Trilogy Cafe (vegan - but good!), Parakeet Cafe, Better Buzz (great coffee) La Jolla Shores - Cheese Shop (sandwiches - be sure to get the oatmeal cookie!), Shorehouse Kitchen, Carolines (right on the beach, the line can get long)
Eppig Brewing, Shorerider (La Jolla Shores), Birdseye Rooftop, George's rooftop bar at sunset, La Valencia lobby bar, LJ Crafted Wines (Bird Rock)
A 15-minute drive from La Jolla. Beautiful park to walk around, have a picnic, or take a visit to the Zoo. Grab dinner at The Prado (reservations recommended) or a quick bite and a beer at Panama 66. Azuki Sushi is just outside the park and our favorite sushi restaurant.
Coronado, Little Italy (good restaurants and fun bars), Encinitas (laid back beach town), Pacific Beach (young going out scene), Sunset Cliffs (the name says it all, take a walk here at sunset)
