During the summer of 2018, we met while attending EMT school. We spent time practicing skills and trading stories about our experiences while on clinicals. Connor once nearly blinded Alana with a pen light because he was learning how to check pupils and did not do it correctly. We stayed connected afterwards through UF's on campus EMS unit and through teaching an emergency medicine course together. After working EMS on several events together, we soon began to go on real dates and found very similar interests including a love for science and a pursuit of a career as healthcare providers. Needless to say, we found our passion and care for each other whilst engaging in our passion for healthcare. The rest is history!
Connor planned his proposal within Alana's graduation pictures for several reasons, one was to have an inconspicuous way to have both families present to see. The other reason is that we met as students at UF, and we both shared a love for both the campus and the location chosen, right in front of Century Tower and next to Marston Library, a common area for both of us. Alana took many pictures before and it was a classic brutally hot and humid day in Gainesville, and with both families with us, she wanted to skip Century Tower to get everyone out of the heat. Connor urged as calmly as possible, and she agreed to go. In the middle of picture taking, Connor popped the question and was unable to get any words out of his mouth, and the rest of his family approached from behind with our two dogs, as they were hiding a block away. That is the story behind these pictures!
