A Punk Rock, Buffy Marriage Proposal!
When Michael decided to propose to Hannah, he knew that it needed to be something worthy of the love that they share. They picked out a ring, and asked her parents’ for a blessing, but the official proposal was Michael’s big secret. Michael happens to know the drummer of a local rock band called “Nerf Herder.” It just so happens that this band wrote theme song for one of Hannah‘s favorite shows, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When he found out that they were going to be doing a show in Ventura, he knew that would be the perfect opportunity to pop the question. He reached out to the band and asked if he could propose to Hannah on stage during their concert. Michael had planned this out weeks in advance. He watched all seven seasons of her favorite show and learned to play the theme on his bass, just in case it would help. He collaborated with the band to call Hannah and him up onto the stage under the pretense that they are asking fans to do the wolf howl at the beginning of the theme song. Hannah suspected that they may have been chosen because of Michael’s connection to the drummer. But she legitimately believed he would never pop the question in such a public way, as Michael is notoriously shy. As the rest of the theme song for Buffy the Vampire Slayer played, Michael got down on one knee and asked Hannah to be his wife. She was surprised, ecstatic, and so touched that this man, who does not like to speak in front of others, got up on stage to confess his love for her in front of a room full of strangers. Obviously, she said yes.
