In July 2025, we traveled to Banff for vacation. We spent time hiking and sightseeing in the mountains. On Wednesday morning, we woke up early to hike the most strenuous hike of our trip, the Big Beehive at Lake Louise. Once we got to the top, I set up my tripod to take a picture. After fixing my sweaty hair, I turned around to Caleb down on one knee.

We were in the same fourth grade class. I had a crush on Caleb but we never spoke to each other. Torture was our teacher continuing to seat us next to each other every time she changed class seat arrangements around. I didn’t see him again until our junior year of high school when we had classes together. Caleb messaged me out of the blue and we went bowling on our first date. I figured he was going to be good when he took his own bowling balls out of his truck. He picked me up at 6 and had me home by 9. My parents thought it went badly since I was home so early. I told them it was the opposite, and that we talked for 3 hours straight. He texted asking me about a second date before he pulled out of my driveway.

In high school, I was walking with friends after lunch when a blonde girl wearing an AC/DC shirt caught my eye...I asked my buddy who she was and he gave me Alaina's name. He told me, "She hangs out with quiet kids". I said screw it and took a chance messaging her on Instagram. We went on our first date to Plaza Lanes and Old Chicago Pizza. I didn't realize it at the time but her brother was in my gym class freshman year.
