We met by chance—though isn’t that how the best stories always begin? I was working at the golf shop at Reynolds, just like any other day at that time. One of the professionals was out, so they sent over an intern from another shop to help. That’s when Alex walked in, dressed in a zip-up vest, a crisp golf shirt, and loafers. That moment, that image of him, is etched in my mind forever and the rest is very funny history.
It began with a slow morning and a simple statement. "I want to take a walk down to the creek." The world felt still as we wandered there together, eventually settling at the picnic table, watching the gentle flow of the water. For a moment, everything seemed perfectly ordinary—until I turned around. And there was Alex, down on one knee, turning that simple walk into the most unforgettable moment of my life.
As you look around during the wedding weekend, you may notice the absence of someone very dear—the Father of the Bride. Some of you know why, while others may not. In May of 2018, my world changed forever when I received the news that my dad had passed away. Losing a parent is something we all must face someday, but I never imagined it would happen so soon. His absence has been deeply felt in every milestone of my life, and as I stand here on one of the most important days, I carry him in my heart. When I thought about my wedding day, I knew I wanted it to be a tribute to him. Choosing this date was my way of honoring his memory, keeping him close, and celebrating love in a month that now holds even greater meaning. Though he is not here physically, I know he is with us in spirit, watching over this beautiful day.
