Rajasthan! This northern state of India is located west of Delhi, and is rightfully known as the ‘Land of Kings’. We highly recommend that you visit the cities of Udaipur (Nikhil’s Maternal Hometown), Jaipur and Jodhpur. These cities are accessible by 1-2 hour flights from Delhi. Rajasthan is home of the historic warrior clan - the Rajputs and is famous for their palaces and hill forts. If you love nature and wildlife, you may also visit Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan and catch a glimpse of a Royal Bengal Tiger (https://www.ranthamborenationalpark.com/)
Your visit to India will be incomplete without experiencing one of the seven wonders of the world. The Taj Mahal is in Agra, UP and is a 3-3.5 hour drive away from Delhi. We recommend that you drive down to Agra early in the morning, visit the monument for 1-3 hours and return to Delhi by late evening.
Ladies, you can check out The Saree Room: https://www.thesareeroom.com/ You can create an outfit you like by mixing and matching a blouse with either a skirt or a saree. (White, Black and Red outfits are generally not worn to weddings. :) ) PS. If you choose a Saree, we will have draper at the events to help you put it on. Gentlemen, we recommend you buy your Indian outfits from a Fabindia store when you are in India. If you live in the NY/NJ area, Iselin, NJ has a lot of Indian clothing stores for both men and women. Manyavar, Miss India and Nalli are a few good ones.
The Delhi International Terminal (T3) has an Airtel store, and we recommend that you stop by and purchase a sim before you exit the airport. This is important if you want to use Uber, need directions to go anywhere during your stay or to just stay connected to us for anything you may need.
All major stores and restaurants in India accept credit cards. (We use our Visa and Amex cards, and they work hassle free everywhere. For some cards, the bank needs to be informed about international travel, so make sure you call your bank and let them know you will be travelling) However, we recommend you keep some cash on you. The International Arrival hall has Forex counters where you can get some INR ( Anywhere from Rs 5000 - 10,000 should be more than enough).
