We fell in love to 96.5 MIAMI'S PARTY STATION. I didn't think much of it when I heard his iconic EEEEYYYOOOO screech for the first time. It hardly seemed noteworthy. But, the more I listened to his lyrical poetry over the radio, the deeper I fell and the more the sound began to feel like a beautiful mating call. In a short while, Pitbull became synonymous with wordsmith and I could hardly help but feel myself bounce with joy every time one of his tracks came on. I thought our relationship would suffer when I left our shared home state to go to college, as most long distance relationships don't make the cut. And I'm not going to lie, not everyone understood our love when I moved away and his style was definitely not always looked upon favorably. But I didn't care. Pitbull and I had something real and I knew that as long as I remained loyal, one day they would understand my love for this baldheaded, sunglasses adorned man. And so, three Pitbull concerts in three separate states later, we persevered and our love continues to transcend state lines. He is Mr. Worldwide after all. Being a few area codes apart can't faze us. It's true that Rita still calls him Dale sometimes, but she's always had a soft spot for his music and you'll catch her dancing along to Give Me Everything when it comes on, even if she won't always admit that she knows who sings it. I can only hope that one day our young Zulema (see lyrics: Hotel Room Service) will be as talented as her father.
