BooLOVErs SAY I DO!

On April 6, 2014, the "BooLoving" began when Shann and Akilah swiped right on each other while scrolling on the Tinder App. Shann sent her a message that led to a 4 hour phone conversation! The pair although quite opposite, instantly connected once they realized they were both HBCU grads. Shann was intrigued by Akilah's leap from Corporate America and quest to inspire girls through her organization I AM BEAUTY. He wooed her with his Morehouse swag and intellectually stimulating conversation. Before falling too fast she said " Let me get this out of the way right now. Do you believe in God?" He responded "Yes, I am Saved!" She sighed in relief and they both laughed. After talking over the phone for a few weeks , they decided to go on their first date on Saturday April 19, 2014. The day of their proposed date Akilah called Shann to let him know her brother had been hit by a car and she would not be able to see him that day. At that moment although understanding and concerned about her brother , he was crushed and thought he may never go on a date with her. About a week later, Akilah's brother was moved from the ICU and was doing better. Shann had been keeping in touch with her daily. Once he realized she may start assuming her normal activities he asked if they could reschedule their date. On Saturday, April 26th they met at an Italian restaurant in SOHO and the evening turned into a marathon date filled with food, live music and dancing. And they have been booloving ever since :-)

On January 6, 2018 Shann and Akilah spent a full day island hopping and enjoying the beaches, monkeys and food in Phuket , Thailand. Upon returning to the hotel, Shann stopped by the front desk. He came back and said "There is an issue in our room so we have to move to another room." Akilah huffed and puffed. Shann said "They were very apologetic and will send someone to meet us down here to escort us to the room to help us move." The two enjoyed dinner on the beach as the sun set. Shann asked " Babe , be honest , are you disappointed we didn't get engaged while we were here?" She replied " No babe ...I know you don't have the funds saved up yet so I wasn't expecting that at all" . He replied " OK, just wanted to ask because I know people mentioned they thought it would happen here. I wanted to make sure you weren't secretly disappointed" She said tearfully " This was by far one of our best trips...this scenery is so beautiful and I am just so happy to be here with you. I am not disappointed at all" . They hugged and kissed. Shortly after three young hostesses came over to escort them upstairs . Akilah whispers to Shann " They sent these girls to move our heavy bags into our new room??" Shann replied " I guess so. Maybe none of the bell hops were available" . Akilah sighs in aggravation. When they get to the room Akilah opens the door and before she can place the key in the slot to activate the lights Shann stops her, takes the key , and opens the door . Shockingly, the first thing she sees is a beautiful trail of an abundance of red roses and candles leading to the balcony . The bed is decorated with the word "LOVE" in red roses. . Shann guides her to the balcony to sit down. He dropped to one knee, confessed his love for her and asked for her hand in marriage with a picture perfect backdrop of Phuket. She said "YES!" . "Congratulations Madame!! " the three girls said, who had decorated the room and were taking pics and video the entire time!
