What are the events that I am expected to attend?

Answer

Various events have varying combination of groups invited depending on its rituals. An official invite will follow in April clearly stating the events you’re invited to. Please check with the bride or the groom if hotel room and/or flight reservations need to be made before April.

What is the Garba-Raas event?

Answer

The Garba-Raas event will be a traditional Gujarati dance night to celebrate the forthcoming Wedding. Don’t Worry, we will have many talented Gujaratis to teach you the dance flow at the event!

Will the Wedding be a traditional Indian ceremony?

Answer

Yes, we take pride in getting married under the beautiful Hindu rituals to become husband and wife!

Will Akhil be coming in on an elephant?

Answer

Be outside at the venue at 9AM sharp on Saturday to find out!

Question

Will Khushboo be changing her last name?

Answer

Yes! Khushboo will be joining the world famous Patel clan! AND per Indian traditions, her middle name will also change to ‘Akhil’ from currently her father’s name. Cue the forthcoming ‘Khushboo Akhil Patel’!

Are there any religious restrictions on attire we should be aware of?

Answer

Traditionally, Indian culture avoids the color Black to the religious wedding ceremony. However, Black suits for men are an acceptable attire. Black color attire is acceptable at other events as well.

Do I need separate outfits for the Wedding and the Reception?

Answer

Historically seen, majority of Indians WILL have separate outfits for each event. However, you are not mandated to switch between the Wedding and the Reception.

How formal is the Reception?

Answer

Indian Women will primarily be seen in Indian style floor length dresses. A Western floor length dress or a short dress will all be an appropriate attire if you do not have an Indian outfit. Men will be dressed in suit and tie.

I am not Indian, can I still wear Indian clothes to your events?

Answer

Yes! The bride and groom would love to see you in traditional Indian outfits if you can! Not mandatory of course!

Where can I shop for Indian clothes?

Answer

There are a few online resources : • Lashkaraa - www.lashkaraa.com (Affordable & stylish options for Women) • cbazaar - www.cbazaar.com com (Affordable options for Men and Women) • Panash - www.panashindia.com (Affordable options for Men) • WeWearUs - wewearus.com (Rental Only) Most of these operate out of India. It will be beneficial if a group order is an option to share in the shipping cost and group deals if offered at the time of order. The popular style for women for Garba-Raas is called ‘Lehenga Choli’. The most popular style for women for Wedding/Reception is called ‘Anarkali’. The most popular style for men for Garba-Raas and Wedding is called ‘Kurta Pajama Set’. You can also get just a long Kurta (top) and pair it with khaki pants. Feel free to contact the bride or the groom for additional questions.

Will the events run on IST (Indian Standard Time)?

Answer

Absolutely not! We are meticulously working on the timeline for each event to ensure punctuality of each item during the events unless unforeseen situations.

Question

Where are you planning to go for your Honeymoon?

Answer

The couple plans to do a beach mini-moon in the Caribbean following the wedding to relax from the weekend and a longer trip to an adventurous destination for Honeymoon later in the year! Suggestions welcome for both!

Is there anything else we should be aware of?

Answer

Lollapalooza! The big music festival in Grant Park is happening on Thursday, August 1 through Sunday, August 4. For guests coming from Chicago Downtown, we request that you plan your drive to Oak Brook accordingly throughout the weekend. For guests flying in, you will miss the chaos if you plan to directly head to the hotel in Oak Brook. However, be aware for any site-seeing interests and opportunities during the festival days.
