We met through law school, shocked, nobody probably knew that. Before law school started, we met at a social event at Drake's on Tate's Creek in Lexington. We sat together and instantly clicked. We discovered that we lived in the same neighborhood, and we were also placed in the same "club" in law school, where we would have every class together. From then, we were kind of attached at the hip. Spencer became my best friend at law school, and after only knowing him for a month, it felt like I had known him for much longer. People asked us often if we knew each other before law school, but we didn't. We bonded first over music. We loved the same bands, and would always talk about our favorite songs and share music with each other. The first time we said we loved each other was after The 1975 concert we went to in Cincinnati. After that, we went to many concerts together. Spencer dragged me to not one, or two, but three U2 concerts (just kidding, I enjoyed them). He took me to see my favorite band, Radiohead, in Atlanta, and I thought that was one of the nicest things anyone had ever done for me. After almost two years of dating, Spencer surprised me with tickets to see Hamilton in Chicago for my birthday. Anyone who knows us knows that we love Hamilton. We used to sing songs from Hamilton with two of our best friends, Devin and Kelby, all the time. When we got to Chicago, I had no idea that he was going to propose. He carried around with him a book that he had made with some of our memories in it, gave it to me as a birthday present, and then got down on one knee and proposed. I was definitely surprised. It was hard to concentrate on Hamilton after that, but we had a great time, and Chicago remains one of our favorite cities. Now, we've made many friends and memories together, and are looking forward to celebrating our marriage in September.
