The Nikah ceremony is the heart of an Islamic wedding—a sacred and joyous occasion marking the official union of the bride and groom in the eyes of faith. Guided by an Imam or officiant, the ceremony typically lasts about 20–30 minutes and begins with a short sermon (khutbah) highlighting the spiritual significance of marriage in Islam, followed by a Quranic recitation. The core of the Nikah is the proposal and acceptance (ijab-o-qubool), where the bride and groom verbally give their consent, often in front of witnesses. Afterward, the couple and witnesses sign the Nikah Nama, the official marriage contract, and a mahr (a symbolic gift or dowry) is presented to the bride. Prayers and blessings are offered for the couple’s future, and sometimes family and friends join in a du’a (supplication). Guests are warmly invited to quietly observe and share in this meaningful, joyful moment. Though simple in ritual, the Nikah ceremony is rich in meaning, emphasizing love, respect, and mutual commitment.
In order to organize the event, we kindly request everyone RSVP by August 31st.
