We started messaging one another through the Facebook dating app on December 3, 2019 (yes, FB has a dating app!). Amanda initiated the conversation and after just 10 days, we went on our first date to the Umbra Winery tasting room in Grapevine, Texas. We talked for hours that night, both knowing we were going to have something special.

Amanda proposed first. Earlier that day, we had toured our chosen wedding venue and gone to lunch, giddy about planning a wedding. We knew we were doing things a little backward, but conventional is boring! Just before Amanda popped the question, she asked Kristen to accompany her to run an errand. Kristen, wanting to stay put, asked Amanda to grab her shoes, to which Amanda replied, "Get your own shoes!" Begrudgingly, Kristen went to fetch them. In the meantime, Amanda pulled the ring out of its hiding place and got down on one knee in our living room. When Kristen saw Amanda on the floor, she asked, "What are you doing?" Amanda shook her head and said, "Practicing." Unconvinced, Kristen asked what she was doing again. It was then that Amanda revealed the ring and asked, "Will you marry me?" Kristen said "yes" and tackled Amanda in a hug before the ring was even on her finger. Kristen proposed on 2/12/2021. She had been planning even before Amanda proposed and already had purchased props to aid in the event. As it turns out, the prop (a tee shirt) had arrived in the mail while Kristen was out of town, so Amanda knew she had a gift waiting upon Kristen's return. What she didn't know was that Kristen had also purchased a ring! Understanding that Amanda had just finished a very long two weeks of work, Kristen asked her if she wanted her present. Amanda excitedly looked at her new shirt that read "Girlfriend (crossed out)" with "Fiance" underneath. Prompted to see what else was in the bag, Amanda was stunned to see a ring box. Then, Kristen, with the ring in her pocket, got down on one knee and asked, "Amanda Kaye, will you marry me?"
