We’ll be celebrating over two days! Our Hindu wedding ceremony will take place on Saturday, July 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Scarborough, followed by a vegetarian dinner (no alcohol). The celebrations continue on Sunday, July 4th at 6:00 p.m. with our reception at Embassy Grand in Brampton - expect dinner, drinks, dancing and lots of celebrating!
We would love to celebrate with you at both! When you RSVP, you’ll be able to see the events included with your invitation. Saturday will be our traditional Hindu wedding ceremony, while Sunday will be our reception and party.
For the wedding ceremony, we recommend arriving 20–30 minutes early so you have plenty of time to park, remove your shoes, find a seat, and settle in before the ceremony begins. For the reception, doors open at 6:00 p.m., so come ready for an evening of food, drinks, dancing, and celebration!
You’re in for something special! Our ceremony will include traditional Hindu prayers and symbolic rituals, in Sanskrit and explained in English as well, representing love, partnership, family, and the beginning of our life together. There’s absolutely nothing you need to know beforehand; we'll even a handout explaining all the rituals! Just come, enjoy the experience, and celebrate with us. We’re so excited to share these traditions with all of our family and friends!
Indian attire is welcome and encouraged if you’d like to wear it, but absolutely not required. Western formal or semi-formal attire is perfectly fine as well. Because the ceremony is taking place in a temple, we simply ask that clothing be respectful and temple-appropriate. Check out our Outfits page if you’d like some inspiration!
We kindly ask guests to avoid red for the wedding ceremony, as it is traditionally reserved for the bride. Otherwise, we encourage you to have fun with colour — Indian weddings are the perfect excuse!
Yes! Shoes are removed at the entrance of the the temple in a coatroom (one on each side for men/women), so we recommend wearing something that is easy to slip on and off. Consider this your official reminder to wear your good socks.
Hindu wedding ceremonies tend to be a little longer than Western ceremonies because they include several meaningful traditions and rituals. Come comfortable, enjoy the experience, and don’t worry, we’ll make sure you’re well fed too!
Of course! Snacks and refreshments will be available before the ceremony, and dinner will be served afterward. You definitely will not be leaving hungry.
