How do I get to Ranthambore?

Answer

We recommend flying into Delhi airport (Indira Gandhi Airport) and driving to Ranthambore. It is approx. a 4.5 hour drive from Delhi to Ranthambore with various rest stops on the way. We will provide transportation from Delhi to Ranthambore on Dec 18th; however, if you chose to travel a couple of days before for Safari you can hire a car service or take the train. We have negotiated a reduced rate with meals at the Wedding hotel (Nahargarh Ranthambore) for anyone who would like to go earlier (16th or 17th December) Alternatively, you can take a train that departs early morning from Delhi to Ranthambore. If you decide to take the train, please book first class cabin.

Question

What is the weather like in December?

Answer

Ranthambore is in Rajasthan which is a desert region in India. You should expect cool mornings and evenings (going down to 10 C/ 50F) and warm afternoons ( 20C/65F). If you go for an early AM safari, it will be quite cold since all the jeeps are open so make sure you layer up and carry your jackets. Delhi is also cool and crisp during December time. Temperatures vary from 8 - 25 C (45 - 70s) so we recommend carrying warm clothes. Additionally, due to crop burning in neighbouring regions around Delhi, you should expect some degree of air pollution during this time. Please make sure to carry masks or inhalers if you have asthma or trouble breathing.
