In 2016, Scotty and Ashley crossed paths on Tinder. They talked for quite some time but it wasn’t the right time for them. In 2017, Scotty stumbled upon one of Ashley’s social media posts and they reconnected. The first time they met in person was in April 2017 when Scotty drove from Maryland to Tennessee to spend a week with Ashley. By November 2017, Ashley was packing her bags and moving across the country with a man she had only spent 2 weeks (in person) with!
It was just like our own personal Hallmark movie! It was absolutely perfect! (To us, at least!) Scotty worked so hard to plan an amazing trip to Stowe, VT. We stayed on the side of a mountain at The Trapp Family Lodge. On the day of the proposal, it was snowing (again.) There was already about two feet of snow on the ground. Scotty planned a horse-drawn sleigh ride for us. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. The sleigh driver stopped near a little gazebo that was next to a frozen creek for a photo opportunity. Once we got in the gazebo, Ashley knew what time it was! It was time to get engaged! Scotty was SO nervous. He could barely get the words out of his mouth. Scotty proposed to Ashley with the same ring that his dad proposed to his mom in the spring of 1988! Scotty’s nerves were getting the best of him because he didn’t even listen to hear if Ashley said yes or not! It was definitely an unforgettable and very funny proposal but we wouldn’t expect it any other way. We absolutely LOVE that we continue to make each other laugh and smile through the good times and the bad times.
