The Akande Traditional Wedding

FAQs

Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Doors will open at 6:30 PM. We kindly encourage guests to arrive early to allow time for seating and to enjoy the atmosphere. The ceremony will begin promptly at 8:00 PM. Please note that there will be no entry once the ceremony has started, so timely arrival is very important.

Question

Can I bring a plus-one?

Answer

Please refer to your invitation. Due to seating and planning, only invited guests are guaranteed accommodation.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Guests are encouraged to wear formal or traditional attire and to incorporate Shades of Brown into their outfit as a symbol of unity and support for the couple.

Question

Are children allowed?

Answer

We respectfully request that children attend by invitation only. Children are welcome only if they are specifically listed on the invitation, as we are limiting attendance to family and close friends.

Question

Are wedding gifts expected?

Answer

In lieu of traditional wedding gifts, we invite our guests to join us in the joyful Nigerian tradition of spraying. Spraying is a celebratory custom where guests place money on the couple as a sign of love, support, and blessing. Participation is completely optional, and your presence is truly what matters most to us.
