A’Kailah and Erick first met back in middle school—she was in 8th grade, he was in 7th—and even then, sparks were flying. But rules are rules, and they weren’t allowed to officially date until high school. Back then, Erick was the football star and A’Kailah was the cheerleader, cheering him on from the sidelines. Their love only grew stronger, even when Erick moved to Texas to play college football at Texas Southern University. Ironically, while he was living the HBCU football life, A’Kailah stayed home pursuing her art degree. Long-distance? No problem—they made it work. Over a decade after first meeting, these two are still inseparable. In 2023, they took the next big step and bought their first home together, where they now live with their two dogs, Mila and Mavis, and Erick's abundant collection of fish. They love spending their time watching movies, going to spooky events, and attending concerts—and it was at Thee Sacred Souls concert in April that Erick finally popped the question! After all these years, adventures, moves, and dog cuddles, they’re excited to share the next chapter with all of you and continue growing their love, laughter, and shared playlists.
