You are probably just as surprised as we are that we have reached this point in our lives so quickly. Let's face it, the odds were not in either of our favor when it came to dating. I am an introverted girl working in a female dominated profession who sleeps most of her days off. Jake is an introverted boy who is very dedicated to his work and academic success who lives an hour away. Logic would surmise that this is NOT a recipe for success. Fortunately for us, our Father in Heaven knew we needed to be born in a time where we could get a little extra help. A few months before 2020 made its debut, I voiced a half-joking new years resolution to my friend. In a moment of desperation, I confided that I would make a Mutual if prospects were still non-existent. As 2020 began, I hoped she would have forgotten about my plan. Needless to say, she did not. The first week I had the app, I got nothing. When that happens it's a bit of a bummer. I honestly started thinking there must be a problem with the application because I could not have been that undesirable! I know I have my quirks, but come on? Really? Nothing? This lead me to delete the app and start the process all over again. I'm very glad I did. I met Jacob a month or so after. Like most things in life, good things don't really come without a bit work. For those who haven't had the experience of online dating, it can be brutal (on both engaging and receiving ends). Let 's just say there's a lot of interesting people out there. I did a lot of sifting. Luckily, I didn't have to spend more time than I needed to on there. Our first date was on leap day! February 29th 2020. We went to Oak Wood Fire Kitchen and shared our love of food.... and pretty much everything else. We began conversation in his car for 45 minutes as we waited for a table. For those who know me, you know I'm not much of a talker so this was a very big and good sign of our future success. The rest is history.
