Covid was not an easy time for anyone, so we were so excited for our vacation in Puerto Rico in October 2021 to finally get some much needed time together and away from the stresses of daily life. Jon and I love to eat and drink whenever we travel, so our first night of vacation, we had plans for a fancy dinner at a restaurant called Marmalade (which came very highly recommended). Before dinner, Jon said he wanted to check out this fort in Old San Juan called El Morro, which was one he had not been to before. When we got to the fort, we were walking around taking in the beauty that is Puerto Rico, when my clumsy self stepped on an uneven patch of grass and broke my heel! As I am sitting down to try to find a way to put it back together, Jon was (what I thought) typing in his phone and looking up shoe stores so I could get new ones before dinner (turns out he was actually texting the photographer that we had to change locations lol). I could not put my shoe back together so I picked them up and carried them as we explored the fort some more. We stopped to admire the ocean, and I feel Jon pull away. Confused, I turned around and there he is on one knee. I was in so much shock that I think I said "shut up! you're kidding!" at least 10 times before it hit me and the ugly tears came in full force. Although breaking my shoe was unlucky, the photographer was able to make it on time and capture this special moment (see photo above. Bonus points if you can see my shoes on the ground!). The easiest 'YES' of my life, soon to be followed by the easiest 'HELL YES'. Now...LET'S GO GET US MARRIED!!
