Travel Note
Spetses is a gorgeous island off the beaten path from most tourist destinations in Greece. Think no shoes, no shirts, no problems (other than its crippling financial instability). The island is 27 miles all around, where you can spend days vespa-ing around the island, only stopping off at the many beaches along the way for a swim and a souvlaki, or sitting under the sun and slugging Ouzo until it's time to shower up for dinner. There are a few taxis on the island but otherwise no other cars. You walk, vespa/quadbike, or take a horse-drawn carriage for transit (Yes, actually). We recommend an E-bike though, as you need a motorcycle license for the scooters and ATVs. And should we head to the mainland (Porto Cheli), it's a quick water taxi over. The food is as fresh as it gets, and so are the people. This town is a total escape from reality.
Flight
We recommend scheduling your flight for a morning or afternoon arrival (Athens time). If your flight arrives on time it could take another 1-2 hours to clear customs, retrieve luggage and get to an ATM to withdraw euros. There’s usually up to a 15-20 minute wait to clear passport control, regardless of when your flight arrives. And wait at baggage might be 15 minutes or so. Clearing customs (once you’ve retrieved your bags) is a breeze. No one is ever there unless you have something specific to declare. You’ll still have to wait for luggage.

The easiest and fastest way to get from the airport to Piraeus is by taxi. The ride is 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Ask to be dropped at Gate E8. Taxi for 1-3 people: 65 euros (total)
Travel Note
From Piraeus, Gate E8, you will board a hydrofoil or catamaran for the final stage of your journey to the Island of Spetses. Round trip boat tickets from Piraeus to Spetses cost 75 euros per person and are booked through the Hellenic Seaways website. There are two options: the Flying Dolphin (faster and choice of Business vs. Economy class) and the Flying Cat (slower and only one class). Schedule the boat's departure at least 2.5 hours after your flight lands to allow yourself enough time to reach Piraeus, get the tickets and board. After you purchase tickets, print or take a screen shot of the emailed confirmation number. You will provide this to the "Hellenic Seaways" booth in Piraeus to print your tickets to board. There is a Hellenic Seaways booth near where you board the boat, at Gate E8. Please reach out if any questions in the meantime!

If you're planning to stay in a hotel, check out Poseidonion Grand Hotel & Spetses Hotel. Because of the small size of our wedding, there will be no room blocks. If you're planning to rent a home, there are options on Airbnb and PrettyGreekVillas.com. The Sbregarinos can also help find additional options - just let us know! Pro Tip: May-June is technically still the off-season in terms of tourism, but still a popular time to visit, so book as soon as you can! Keep in mind there are no cars on the island, so the closer you can stay to the festivities the better.
