Wear something that makes you feel fantastic. In terms of formality, think cocktail plus. Ballgowns welcome. (But if you, like Ellie, feel most fantastic in a comforter, prioritize comfort over formality.) It's Halloweekend, so please use that and this wedding as an excuse to wear something you've always wanted to wear but never have the occasion for. We assume that ABBA, Studio 54, BarbieCore, and Renaissance World Tour looks will all be represented. (By no means an exhaustive list.) We'll be indoor / outdoorsing it in October so consider a fun coat. Although, who knows what the weather will be like in late October anymore? Isn't climate change FUN????? If you want to dress to the surroundings, The Foundry is covered in ivy, which should be in full bloom for our wedding. That's gonna be oranges, reds, yellows, browns, all against brick. AUTUMNAL, baby. One last note — the courtyard is a combination of paved and cobblestone, so be aware of that when considering your shoes.
We love your children, but, unfortunately, due to venue requirements and capacity limits, we can't accommodate kids at our wedding.
Ellie is nonbinary and genderfluid and uses they/them pronouns. (They also use she/her and he/him, depending on the vibe.) Ellie won't be calling themselves a bride, but the gender netural terms they've heard — marrier (true but a little clinical) and broom (fun, suggests utility, but ultimately really too silly) — suck. Anyway, this isn't a space for thoughts on gender, but since Ellie doesn't really post online anymore and is a little bit of a hermit nowadays, this may be news to some of you! And what better way to come out to your loved ones than via a Zola FAQ???
We chose The Foundry for our wedding in part because we'll be able to have a free flow of fresh air throughout the whole day / evening. We ask that everyone be vaccinated, boosted, and take a rapid test the day of the wedding. We'll have rapid tests available at the venue if you'd prefer. If you're traveling from far to get to us (thank you!) please mask on the plane. A lot of key wedding humans are immunocompromised and we really don't want any of us getting sick at our wedding.

Stairs: There are stairs within the Foundry (most notably up to the terrace) but the ceremony, dinner, dancing, and all food / bar stations will be on the ground floor. Size: We're having 165 guests (including us) at The Foundry. The Foundry's main space is 1820 SF, and the courtyard is 8425 SF. Sound: We will have to abide my NYC Sound restrictions but we like our dance floor music loud. We will have earplugs available. COVID-19: See above. Our plan (weather pending) is to have the ceremony outside, move into the main space (with the big doors kept open) for cocktail hour, go back outside for dinner, and then dancing will follow in the main space. After 9pm, we have to close the doors due to NYC noise ordinances. We will have masks available and will be bringing air purifiers in to mitigate air quality as best we can. Smoke: Ellie will be, in the words of their father, "smoking reefer" on the terrace and invites you to join them, should you partake. The terrace is above and to the northwest of the courtyard, so the smoke should not reach the courtyard. We'll be updating this website with more details as we finalize run-of-day. Please text either one of us with any questions or concerns.
