Our First Date
Minute Maid Park
Sarah won tickets to ALDS Game 1: Cleveland versus Houston in 2018. Even though she'd be rooting for the Indians and he was an Astros fan, she invited Mike. They met beforehand for lunch and had so much fun at the game that they went out afterwards for dinner and drinks. All in all, it was an epic first date.
Our First Road Trip
Austin City Limits
On a whim, Mike asked Sarah if she wanted to trek to Austin with him to celebrate his 30th birthday at ACL. They luckily got day passes on short notice and drove over that weekend. Highlights included Elle King, X Ambassadors, Shakey Graves, Arctic Monkeys, and Mike's Astros flag/cape.
Our First Flight
Exploring Seattle
The next summer, Sarah invited Mike to Seattle, where she was attending a marketing conference. They flew in early to visit friends, attend Ballard SeafoodFest, hike up to Colchuk Lake, and explore downtown Seattle. They even got to go bouldering at their gym's sister location!
Our First Pup
Murphy Joins the Family
When their plans for a visit to HMNS were thwarted by too many rainy-day crowds, Mike and Sarah stopped by BARC Animal Shelter. Because of the pandemic, they had to meet Murphy on a Zoom call instead of in person, but they knew he was "the one." They picked him up the next day and it was love at first sight.
The Proposal
The Eastern Glades at Memorial Park
In planning for the event that brings you here today, Mike knew two things: he wanted to propose before he and Sarah visited their families in late July 2021, and he wanted Murphy to be there. On July 11, he took Sarah and Murphy to the park (he was so nervous that he forgot Murphy's leash and collar at first!), and after a beautiful picnic and a game of Scrabble, he got down on one knee, making that one of the happiest days of their lives.
