In 2015, we met at work by way of a colleague. At that time, we were both in relationships, so we kept things at a hi and bye. Several months later, a significant change in our healthcare system sparked a conversation between us. I emailed him an inspiring article about our organization's new CEO and President, who is a black male with similar credentials/educational background. In our conversation, he says, "my numbers are in my signature. You should use them." I played hard-to-get but eventually texted him after seeing him at Caribou Coffee. One day he asked me to lunch, and so we went to Camille's Sidewalk Cafe. At that moment is when he expressed his interest. From there, we were inseparable. As we introduced one another to our family and friends, it was confirmation that we were perfect for each other.
I had THE RING for three months and carefully planned our proposal for several weeks. I decided to propose the day before Thanksgiving since I knew her family would be in town (This would be another surprise for her). On the day of the proposal, we went ice-skating - As I knew this would literally be the "icebreaker" I needed. After ice-skating, we walked toward Romare Bearden Park, which is the place where I would pop the question. On the way, a homeless lady approached us. I tried continuing to walk with tunnel-vision, but Kearia could not resist conversation. My anxiety was at an all-time high! After an interesting conversation with the lady we met, we went by the waterfall, and I began taking pictures of Kearia. Then GOD sends a nice older fellow who agreed to record the proposal. I told Kearia that he was kind enough to take photos for us. We smiled into the camera, and I got down on one knee. As Kearia looked down, I showcased the ring - She was in awe. I asked her, "Would you make me the luckiest man? Will you marry me?" She tearfully replied, "YES!"
