It was the Summer of 2011, when the couple decided to go out with a group of friends and enjoy a night out in D.C. (*a big thanks to Zulma for encouraging two of her close friends to come together!*) They danced, they drank and ended the night with a new phone number.

After 6 1/2 wonderful years of laughter, adventures, and a couple of hardships, Tito recognized that life is meant to be lived surrounded by the ones you love most; he felt it was the right time to ask Monica a very important question and started brainstorming how to do it. Exactly 7 years after their meet cute, Tito planned a date to Theodore Roosevelt Island. This location was special to the couple, as they had carved their initials in a tree 5 years prior; they visited this tree often, refreshing the carving and enjoying the scenic walk around the Potomac. Once they got to that tree on this special visit, Tito got down on one knee and asked Monica to marry him. She was quite shocked and shed plenty of happy tears, but managed to finally say yes! :)
