Her Side: "At the time, I worked with Tanner's stepdad, Doug. Tanner's mom, Deb, was asked to give a co-worker and I a ride to the airport for a business trip. During the ride home from the airport she began showing me pictures of her son, and insisted that we'd be perfect for each other (mind you, this was only my second time meeting Deb, so she hardly knew anything about me). Knowing my love for the Arizona Coyotes and Tanner’s love for the Anaheim Ducks, Doug and Deb invited us to an upcoming Coyotes vs. Ducks game. I reluctantly agreed (how bad could it be? It’s a free hockey game) and Tanner and I met on this blind date. My team ended up losing miserably that night and Tanner was not shy about rubbing it in, so naturally it wasn't the most appealing first impression. Growing up, I always told myself I could never marry someone that was not a Coyotes fan because I take my team spirit way too seriously, but our love of the sport and the competitive rivalry helped us develop a playful bond and now I couldn't picture a better date to the games!"
His Side: "I knew after only six months of dating that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Katie. Over the next few months I would casually bring up marriage in hopes that she felt the same way. Once she sent me a picture of her dream ring, I knew that it was the only option, and I got to work picking out the diamond and meeting with the jeweler to make it a reality. I’m pretty sure she thought I was being sneaky, coming up with reasons to get out of the house for a little bit, but never would have guessed I was getting her ring. I planned to ask her on Christmas morning, knowing how much she loves Christmas it didn’t seem right to do it any other day. We spent Christmas Eve night with my family, as we usually do. My parents were the only ones who knew the plan. I’d put the ring on a “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Christmas ornament along with the ring. I slept about one hour at the most in anticipation for the following morning. I was the first one awake screaming for everyone to wake up because Santa came! We all spent the morning opening presents which seemed like forever, and once everybody was done opening their presents… I told Katie that she had one more on the tree. She found it quick and then I got down on one knee. She said YES and made me the happiest man alive!"
