Question

Where can I get a COVID test to return to the United States?

Answer

Most hotels and villas can put you in contact with a doctor they recommend. If you would rather schedule your test through your hotel or villa, reach out to them via email or whatsapp to see if they provide this service.

Question

What kind of shoes should I pack?

Answer

I know this seems like a silly point to make but trust us, it's not. Sayulita is a very small town situated between the edge of a rainforest and the beach. Most streets are paved with cobblestone and even though most of the events are within walking distance from hotels, there are different elevations and surfaces. You will want comfortable shoes if you are walking to these events. Since space is limited in this small town, many hotels have to build vertically and may require you to climb several steps to make it to your room or villa. Just keep this in mind when you are packing!

Question

Money / ATM

Answer

*Consider bringing cash (USD or exchange for MX pesos) for tipping drivers, housekeepers and staff, COVID testing in Sayulita, and other small transactions.* While most restaurants and vendors accept credit and debit cards, there are others who do not, or prefer you pay in cash. Those who only accept cash will gladly take USD or MX pesos. The exchange rate changes every day, so just make sure you check that if you are paying in USD. There are several ATM’s at the airport and in Sayulita but before you go, be sure to notify your bank and credit card companies that you will be using your cards in Mexico. Visa or Master Card is more widely accepted than American Express, but some restaurants in Sayulita do not accept credit cards. You can exchange your money for pesos at the airport, but expect to get a poor rate of return. Sayulita has several money exchange places, the rate is generally better here than at the airport. There are also a few ATM machines around town but are sometimes out of order and have a smaller limit on how many pesos you can pull out.
