On a dating site called Plenty of Fish. Neither of us remember the opening line, but let's pretend it was really smooth and respectful and not cringe at all. We then met IRL at Silverlake Meadow in LA. Andrew was impressed by Aimi's skill at a game called rings (like cornhole but with washers), and Aimi was impressed that Andrew was not a serial killer.
In one of the most romantic and daring gestures of 2020, Andrew suggested spending some time...OUTSIDE. Under the cover of a bimonthly date night, the plan was to have a picnic in Elysian Park next to a very Instagrammable tree swing. In an attempt to recreate their first date (park, whiskey gingers, Ryan Gosling coloring book and the game rings), Andrew brought everything from that fateful day in 2014 to the picnic except rings. Or so she thought. As his sweaty, stubby fingers struggled to grasp the ring box from his shorts, Aimi's face went blank. Andrew then proposed. It was smooth and respectful and not cringe at all. Aimi's face was still blank. Uh oh. Then, a smile. Followed by a few joyful tears, and a yes.
While the Covid-19 pandemic has made our 2-person quaranteam a fun pun, it has also made it dang near impossible to plan the wedding of our vision boards...for now. So in that light, we are choosing to have a very small civil ceremony on October 4th, 2020 in the Nackerud backyard (Quarantine Jon makes for quite the landscaper). This was a difficult decision but it is the one that feels best for us to move forward with our marriage AND plan for a day in the future when we can celebrate with all of you under one roof. We love you all, and we dream of the day we can celebrate together in style. Until that time, keep your dancing shoes shined, be safe and healthy, and stay tuned! Aimi and Andrew
