It all started with ZogSports in New York City. In early summer 2017, Aimee and Walter signed up for a season of social dodge ball each with their own friend. After a couple of weeks, Aimee started to have a little crush on Walter (despite his ridiculous volleyball knee pads he wore). She tried flirting with him and to get his attention but it took an additional couple of weeks before he caught on. When Walter asked Aimee out on their first date, Aimee played coy and they ended up on a double date with their friends. It was awkward and determining that they both were interested, decided next time to go out just the two of them. Their first date was on August 3rd, 2017 to MAD (Museum of Art and Design). On August 30th, 2017 they officially became a couple. An ongoing debate between the bride and groom: until they get married cementing their anniversary date, which do you consider to be accurate- 8/3/17 or 8/30/17?
After months of planning, Walter surprised Aimee by showing up to her parent's house in Wisconsin on Christmas Eve. He drove through a bomb cyclone over two days in a rented car with Daisy to get down on one knee and ask the most important question the same way her dad had. While her family was 'in' on the plan, Aimee was told that a photographer was coming over to take family Christmas photos and she needed to dress up. Upon coming downstairs, she saw her favorite Flower - 1,000 miles from home. She was told to check around her neck. Inside a Tiffany blue flannel was a note that read "Hi Mommy. I was told I should be here because Daddy has a question for you. Have you seen him?" Upon reading that, a very dapper Walter in a suit rounded the corner. After taking her hands in front of Aimee's mom, dad, sister, and brother-in-law, Walter got down on one knee with a little blue box and asked her to marry him. She practically interrupted him by screaming yes. Champagne was popped, tears streamed and hugs were abundant. The celebration continued that evening as the newly-betrothed joined the rest of the Mercure family to continue the Christmas celebration and share the exciting news. Cheers to the Future Febers!
