When we first met, we never would have guessed what God had in store for us so many years later. At that time, we had totally different plans…. We had our separate paths, carrying our own stories, lessons, and heartaches. Life takes some really unexpected turns sometimes.. But thanks to a whole lot of arm-twisting from his sister-in-law (good thing for good sister-in-laws!) Raphael wound up at the same convention as me. He was not interested in an American woman, but as luck would have it, we bumped into each other. It happened through one long look — the kind that says everything without a single word. In that moment, we both knew something was different. We couldn’t help but talk half the night away, and before we knew it, our souls had found a deep and undeniable connection. It was in that moment that we realised this was unlike anything either of us had ever expected. Still, we had our doubts. We both remember thinking of all the reasons why we would not become something. But then we started texting… and we couldn’t stop. What followed was a whirlwind of long conversations and countless miles traveled across the ocean to Germany and the USA. Along the way, our boys fell in love with him, and our lives slowly began to weave together. Then on December 22nd, Raphael got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. In that moment, all the waiting and heartache didn't matter any longer because we truly had found the one our souls love.
