We Got Married!

May 17, 2020

After canceling our June Michigan wedding due to Covid-19, we saw no reason to postpone indefinitely so we decided to choose another location that would fit who we are as a couple. What could be better than being married in the redwood forest in Big Sur where we had become engaged (which was no easy task, but that is another story about which you will have to ask Craig)! After some planning, finding a place to stay, calling in some special adventurous friends, a whole lot of changes, challenges and tears, a lot of encouragement from family and friends, many many prayers, a crushed finger, a canceled cake, migraines, a tick, heavy rain, and rock slides on the road, we made it to Tanbark Trail on May 17 around 5:30pm. Miraculously, when we got there, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and blue sky and a bright sun shined down on us as we paraded down the 1/2 Mile Aisle to the most beautuful Redwood Grove in the midst of the forest. It was magical! All the colors were vibrant after the rain. So many different shades of green on trees, moss, plants, grass, cloves, and flower stems. The ground was soft but not muddy. Sounds were muffled. Wildflowers were growing in pinks, purples, yellows and whites and lined the 1/2 Mile Aisle which was a little more inclined than remembered. Cloves bloomed in bright green clumps. Crystal clear water trickled happily in the creek beside the trail. It was beautiful and awe-inspiring and almost did not seem real. But it was real! It was spectacular! God outdid Himself providing the most lovely and miraculous forest for us in which to say our vows and begin our marriage. Though our family and many dear friends were not able to be with us in person, we felt their presence in spirit, thought and prayers. And the 12 who were able to be with us blessed us with their love and excitement and presence. We are so very grateful they were with us on our most special day. *As we left the forest, the rain/clouds rolled back into Tanbark Trail.
