This story starts before Aimee and Colten ever actually met. It started with a text from Aimee to her mom and sisters "There was this cute country lookin guy in my AA meeting tonight". Little did Aimee know that would be the last time she saw him for awhile. She did see him from a far a few months down the road at a meeting here or there, doing her very best to accidentally run into him again. As far as Colten knew, Aimee didn't exist. As fate would have it the two matched on match! Great, Aimee could not be more pleased about this so, she sent him a message and got nothing in return. So she gave up deleted match and decided dating sucked. A few weeks later she gave it another chance, re downloaded the app and they matched again. This time she did get a message back! After a few days of texting and getting to know each other, Colten asked Aimee when he could take her on a date. Aimee let him know it would either have to be the next day or not for awhile as she was going back to Colorado to visit family. So they decided on the next day. They met at a little place in Elkhorn, Nebraska for burgers. The conversation was easy and Colten knew that night, it was love at first sight. Their second date brought them to play putt putt golf and go to a coffee shop in downtown Omaha, Nebraska. This was Coltens first time really ever being in a coffee shop because he was a Folgers kind of guy. Aimee helped him navigate the menu then 3 cups of coffee and 4 hours later, they were hooked. Luckily for these two, not long before they met Colten's mom had asked Grandpa Meier in heaven to help Colten find his person. And find his person, he did. A few weeks and dates later Colten asked Aimee to be his girlfriend and she said "Ask me again some other time". The next morning Colten dropped her at the airport and they said goodbye for 3 weeks while Aimee when back to Colorado for a surgery. They talked everyday and Aimee couldn't stop talking about Colten and at one point asked her mom if she was talking about him too much. January 4th, 2024 Aimee got back to Nebraska where Colten picked her up from the airport with flowers, and a few surprises. Colten had hand made Aimee a book shelf for the night stand with some reading lights because she enjoys reading. He also gave her a tiny spoon necklace and asked her again to be his girlfriend. This time she said yes! This started the tradition of lots of fun, unique (not flowers) surprises Colten gets for Aimee every time she travels without him. This fun tradition makes the time go faster when they're apart because Aimee knows Colten has been thinking about her and can't wait to have her back home. Aimee and Colten's relationship has been filled with a lot of love, laughter, and adventure over the last two years. Both Aimee and Colten are trying new things and falling more in love with each other everyday. Their relationship brought them to Colorado where they are currently on their biggest adventure yet. They have 17 chickens, 10 ducks, 3 goats and some cattle! They are working on expanding and growing in the farm life. January 21st, 2026 while Aimee was taking some time off work, Colten came home and told her that he booked them a cabin in the mountains for a weekend get away to finish her vacation. They spent time playing games, watching movies and taking in the scenery of the perfect winter get away in the beautiful little cabin in mountains. The morning of January 25th, 2026 Colten asked her to marry him and that brings us to today. Cheers to forever!
