Travel and Lodging

If you know you are able to attend we encourage you to book ASAP; we'll be competing with the Port Townsend Blues Fest and the peak of summer travels. We recommend hotels; most Airbnbs and Vrbos in the area are a bit of a drive out of town. Getting to Port Townsend: Port Townsend lies across the Puget Sound from Seattle. There are many ways to get there, depending which modes of transport you prefer. -By car alone, it's roughly 2 hours to drive around the Sound. -If you enjoy a boat ride, the Washington State Ferries will cut your drive in half, and you might even see a whale. The 2 major ferry routes (Seattle-Bainbridge or Edmonds-Kingston) will get you there, but note that lines are long in the summer and this will likely take more time than driving around. -We do NOT recommend paddling to Port Townsend in canoes of any size; please do not believe anyone who tells you otherwise. Uber rides are available but must be scheduled in advance.

Where the magic happens. Note that this includes the dancing and afterparty, so early bedtimes will be difficult here on the big night. The rooms are suites, each sleeps 4.

The Monarch Hotel

Originally built as a rich guy's home in 1889 (his name is on the top) the Monarch is now the go to boutique hotel of PT. Right on the main street, one block from the Bishop, this gem boasts waterfront views and possibly ghosts. Tell them you are with Joe Lambright's "family event" to get access to blocked rooms.

A personal favorite, very friendly to the "arrived by boat" crowd. Don't count on the pool being open, DO count on the wafflemaker during continental breakfast. 20 min walk or 5 min drive from the venue
