Sparks were flying from the beginning, but really it was just embers as Aiden couldn't help but stand too close to the fire. After that, a conversation ignited between the two of us. We both shared all kinds of random and goofy stories, and before we knew it, we had been talking for hours. From there, it only made sense to hang out again. We took turns exploring each other's interests from cross stitch lessons to climbing an abandoned fire tower, and before too long, we both realized we were developing feelings for the other. After a few weeks of occasionally hanging out, Aiden invited me to get some ice cream from Sonic with him after he got off work for the sole purpose of asking me out on an official date. That was the beginning of the story of us.
For a while I knew Cami was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with, but I was a fool and had not listed to the advice of one of my good friends Joey Monroe who told me about a year prior, "Start saving up for a ring now." So there I was, knowing the girl I wanted to marry but not having the money for a ring. Luckily though, I was about to start an internship which would solve that problem. After all summer of being apart, I finally moved back to Tuscaloosa and instantly ordered the ring, but it was killing me not being able to share my excitement with the woman I loved. As soon as the ring comes in, I call Cami's dad and ask him if I would be able to meet him early one morning for breakfast in Huntsville before classes one day to ask him for his blessing. I tell you, I have never been more nervous for anything in my life. Thankfully, he gave me his blessing and told me, "This is what I was hoping for." Now it is the week before the big question, and I go scout out the best spot by a lake with my good friends Joseph and Alyssa who helped me plan out every last detail down to the time window with the perfect lighting. Now, it is the day I ask Cami to spend the rest of her life with me, and man do I feel all sorts of emotions. Once it gets to the agreed upon point in the afternoon, I go and pick up Cami and drive us out to the lake to walk some trails that take us to the perfect spot. There, we stop and talk some, and then, I get down on one knee and ask her, "Camille Warren, will you marry me?" Needless to say, she said "yes," and we walked back down to where we parked to be greeted by our families to celebrate.
