We first met in Iceland at a missionary conference for young evangelists. As we were travelling there, we both sensed that something special was about to happen—though neither of us could have imagined just how special it would be. When Aidan first saw Tamar, he was immediately captivated. Hearing her sing, and seeing her curls bounce around her smile as she laughed, he knew she was special. Tamar, on the other hand, turned to her friend and said, “That boy looks proud, and I don’t think we could be friends.” Thankfully, that thought didn’t last long. She quickly reminded herself that she was Christian and should be kind, and talk to this strange boy approaching her, and after talking to him decided she also needed to seem interesting and funny to keep his attention. From that moment began over a year of long-distance dating, marked by countless late-night phone calls, long and often delayed flights, and painful goodbyes. Through it all, Aidan and Tamar grew more certain each day that they did not want to live a life apart. And on the 20th of March, they no longer will. So please come and celebrate our story so far—but even more, the story that is yet to come.
