How We Met

11/11/2020

As many of you may already know, we did not meet in the "traditional" love-story fashion. Our story actually began on a dating app. I know, surprising right? Can you guys also believe that Aidan was able to score such a catch? Let alone marry her?! Well, let me tell you something. Tenacity pays off. In all seriousness, we met on bumble- Aidan's pickup line "you look familiar, have I seen you around?" was met with "you've probably seen me driving around, looking like a gremlin" and like the suave bastard he is he followed it up with "I was going to say you look like my future wife." The rest was history. We spent the following week hiking and dining on the finest pizza that Carlsbad has to offer, while confessing our mutual adoration for soup. The next 2 years flew by but our bond grew stronger and stronger. It's safe to say that we have become each other's best friends. Which makes that whole "till death do us part" thing, that much easier.

The Proposal

8.23.22

Aidan wanted to do something special for Daisy for her birthday, so he got the gift of all gifts. It was only a gift. Some would ask, how did it end up like this? It was only a gift? It was only a gift. Only kidding, but in reality, Aidan had been thinking about how he was going to propose to Daisy ever since they got in their first fight on a trip to Hawaii. Drinks were poured, molten chocolate lava cake was ordered, and, unfortunately, Aidan said something along the lines of "I was thinking of asking you to marry me here" as we sat under the glow of many a tiki torch at a wobbly table being serenaded by a man that obviously wasn't paid enough to sing "somewhere over the rainbow" for the one hundredth time of the night to a group of insultingly sunburnt tourists. Almost instantly, Aidan knew he messed up big-time, and that moment would haunt him. Fast-forward to almost a year later he knew he wouldn't get another chance to seriously mess up what would be the biggest, most important, question of his life. Aidan had spent that year trying to figure out what he would do to ask the love of his life to marry him, in a way that would promise her he would never let her down again. He first bought the gift. Yes, the gift. The gift of a trip to Kauai, but Aidan had ulterior motives. He spent the time leading up to Daisy's birthday finding any free time to try to write down the words that would most accurately convey how he felt about Daisy so that he could say them to her in this moment that would define the rest of their lives together. Unbeknownst to him, the second he got down on one knee and proposed, all of those words would be gone. Instead what came out of his mouth was all the love he had developed for the most important and influential person to him in the whole world. It was at an overlook, towering over Waimea Canyon, just as the sun burst through the low hanging rainclouds, that Aidan proposed to Daisy by pretending that a rock had gone through his shoe and he would need to be airlifted to the hospital.
