What does black-tie optional mean?

Answer

“Black tie optional” is a dress code for formal events that gives guests two acceptable levels of formality. You can either dress in full black-tie attire or wear a very formal alternative. Men: Tuxedo, black bow tie, formal dress shirt, dress shoes... or dark suit (navy or black), dress shirt, conservative tie, dress shoes. Women: Floor-length evening gown or very elegant formal dress... or cocktail dress, dressy midi dress, or a formal pantsuit.

Can I bring a plus one?

We've carefully planned our guest list and unfortunately can't accommodate additional plus ones. Thank you for celebrating with us!

Are the ceremony and reception at the same venue?

Answer

No. The ceremony will be held at the Newport Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 2:30 p.m. After, there will be a private reception (invitation only) at Bittersweet Farm, beginning at 5 p.m. Addresses: Newport Kingdom Hall 36 Hillside Ave Newport, RI 02840 Bittersweet Farm 438 Main Rd Westport, MA 02790

Should I bring a jacket or layers?

Yes, definitely. Please be mindful it will be cold in January in New England, and dress accordingly.

No, but there will be a cash-only bar at the reception.

To allow all guests to relax and enjoy the evening, our reception will be an adults-only celebration. We kindly ask that only those listed on the invitation attend.

Is there a preferred type of gift?

Answer

We are registered on Amazon for those who prefer a traditional gift. We will also have a honeymoon fund available at the wedding for guests who would like to contribute.
