College in Newport, RI... aka a dream. We were both lucky enough to live on campus- in the same building. Salve was a small university, so we got to know each other by spending a lot of time with the same people. We didn't really kick it off until sophomore year- what seemed to be any normal friendship. Time passed, we spent more and more time together, and before we knew it... friendship was only the beginning. Our first year together was long distance- he took a job in North Carolina for a year. It was very difficult, but having the beginning of our relationship apart made us truly cherish the time we were able to spend together, even if it wasn't as much as we wanted. Let's just say neither of us expected to find our soulmate at college, but damn did we!
Let's be real here, it didn't seem right going on vacation during a pandemic. He was so set on going away to get rid of his PTO, but she was hesitant because she doesn't work from home. So our genius minds decided to go to Florida during hurricane season! Someone was looking out for us, because the high winds and rain didn't start until maybe an hour after we landed. Our first night we were stuck inside our resort- which to her was no problem and she could care less about laying low for one day. Casey on the other hand was quietly a nervous wreck. He was secretly working with a photographer in the area, and originally planned to propose the first day, but the weather got in the way. She noticed he was a little more on edge than usual, but didn't think much of it. The second day came, still with some winds but the sun made an appearance. We went outside to take a picture, and he asked two "strangers" to take it for us. Little did she know, these were not strangers- they were the photographers and were in on the whole thing. So lets just say, he blew this proposal out of the water and had her crying her whole face of make-up off. We spent the rest of our vacation by the pool celebrating engaged life.... with lots of free drinks and delicious food, the only way we know how to celebrate!
