Mayanne is Mark’s adorable younger sister, who people now mistake for being older than him. Much to his chagrin. But he knows it makes sense, after all she is mature beyond her years, beautiful, and has a heart which consistently puts others first. She is currently transitioning to SoCal for a nursing residency.

A kindred spirit that Jessica met at Generation of Youth for Christ at the start of her spiritual growth phase. Someone who notices the little details and encourages Jessica to reflect about her relationships with others and with God. Lorell works as a nurse at Loma Linda University.
Sean Slabbert

Apart from family, Sean and Mark have known each other since they can remember often allies in sneaking polly pockets from their exasperated sisters. As homeschooling families in San Diego, many an afternoon was spent at the beach, eating healthy food, and paddling around on surfboards. Sean just recently returned from more than year abroad as a missionary in Bolivia and is settling into a new nursing position at AdventHealth Orlando.

Jessica's study buddy who kept her sane during medical school and one of the main reasons Jessica agreed to the blind date with Mark! A friend who listens attentively and has a heart of service. Annalise is married to Christian and currently doing psychiatry residency at Loma Linda University.
Christian Freed

Christian is easily one of Mark’s first phone calls when a big decision is coming up. They served on multiple student leadership teams and grew a deep spiritual accountability. Only a few years ago they were wondering who their future “someone” might be. Little did they know their future people were study buddies in medical school. Christian is married to Annalise and works as a VP in a multicenter assisted care facility.

A friend who became more like a younger sister when Jessica lived with her while studying for the MCAT. A baking connoisseur who selflessly helps others and secretly is an expert at whistling duets. Anna is a fourth year medical student at Loma Linda University.

During the first two years of medical school you would find Mark and Josh cooking up a storm for anyone they could find to cook for. Josh is a master event planner full stop. Though friends through academy and college, nothing brought them as close as commiserating their way through medical school. Josh’s faith is one that has inspired Mark’s.

Jessica's foodie buddy who's always down for an adventure and a whiz at cooking. A friend who asks deep and challenging questions about life and doesn't hesitate to go the extra mile. Jenna is an emergency medicine resident at Vanderbilt.
Anthony Cruz

As kids, Mark and Anthony drew cruise ships designs together with the dream of one day owning one to go vacation on, as their families had done. He has many qualities which Mark looked up to chief among them was protecting family. Anthony has always been protective of his younger cousins. He recently passed the bar exam and is settling in as a freshly minted attorney in Florida.

Jessica's birthday twin (down to the same day and year), squealy counterpart, and fellow pediatrician-in-training. Someone who makes others feel comfortable and who has the best tea. She is going through pediatrics residency at Loma Linda University.

During COVID at Andrews, Mark and Justin spent Friday afternoons grabbing food at Bowl of Pho, talking politics, and catching up on the Mandalorian. It’s true if you’re looking for a workout coach look no further, but more importantly a listening ear and heart of gold - Justin is your guy. He is putting in the work as a first year medical student at Loma Linda.

The first friend Jessica made in medical school and who encouraged her to make spiritual patient care a priority. Someone who helps others stay fit with her challenging workouts and gives the best hugs. Kathyrn is going through family medicine residency at Loma Linda University.
Zachary Liebelt
Cousin of the Groom
On a family vacation to Hawaii, Zach and Mark swam the length of Hanama Bay and back - the first and only time Mark’s Filipino skin left him with major sunburns. Zach has always been down for adventure and retains that same disarming smile. He is always down to talk about the newest advances in science and is currently studying Physics at the University of Michigan.
