We met the modern way — on a dating app. We were both pretty skeptical (okay… very skeptical) but decided to give it a try anyway. Turns out, the app actually did its job for once… and now here we are planning a wedding. We met in June 2024, and by the next month, we made it official. We both knew early on that this felt different. Kullan knew right away. Ahmed insists he took his time… but just three months in, he was already thinking about marriage (don’t worry, he definitely played it cool). What made it so clear? We share the same banter, laugh at the same jokes, and somehow never run out of things to talk about. Being together feels effortless — and that’s how we knew this was real. Somewhere between long conversations and countless laughs, we realized we had found something truly special. The proposal happened on Kullan’s birthday, October 26th, and she had absolutely no idea. Ahmed convinced her they were going to the Queens Museum and confidently explained that people in NYC dress up when they go to museums. Coming from someone actually from NYC, it sounded very official. Kullan, who’s from Grand Rapids, Michigan, had no reason to question it (lesson learned). At the perfect moment, he got down on one knee and asked the question that would begin our next chapter together. We feel incredibly grateful for this journey and so blessed to begin this next chapter side by side. We can’t wait to celebrate our union surrounded by our families, friends, and everyone who has loved and supported us — and who watched this dating-app experiment turn into something truly special.
