It was about my first or second weekend working at the Home Depot and I was becoming acquainted with everyone. During one of the conversations, an older employee Lorrie said to me, 'Have you met Ahmad? He's real cute." I told her no and proceeded to wonder why did she just ask me that. The day went on and I was placed in the garden department as a cashier. After 6hrs on shift, I was annoyed and ready for lunch, but we were short staffed. I was told someone was coming in soon and I would get a break. That person came in and it was Ahmad. I vividly remember seeing Ahmad for the first time. He was walking with his head tilted to the side and had on a pair of Timberland's. He introduced himself as the Head Cashier and stated he was there to give me a break. Knowing me, I had to express my frustration of why I was just now going on a break. He patiently listened and said "I got you." From that day, he's had my heart!
Plans were all set, ring purchased, outfit was on a million, dinner reservations were booked, and I was ready to flex all day. It was a beautiful cold Friday in Denver,CO a week after our dating anniversary. I woke up feeling froggy ready to leap, but I was still contemplating on if I was going to propose or not. We went to get breakfast and started to explore the city a little bit. By the time we finished exploring Denver, I had to figure out if I was going to perform in the 4th quarter. Reservations for dinner were still 3 hours away, to one of the most expensive restaurants downtown Denver, little did she know. I was kind of acting quirky throughout the day because I knew my life was about to change at the blink of an eye. It was dinner time and I got an Uber that took us to downtown Denver. We were both looking sexier than a mofo, especially her! I knew I was going do it after she put her dress and heels on and the fellas were gassing me all day. While eating dinner, she left for the ladies room. At that time, I asked the waiters for some places to propose to my lady downtown. They all mentioned Union Station. We finished dinner and caught a rickshaw to Union Station. I was feeling pretty good about it, so I made sure we made a toast to the good life before I proposed. I found a nice secluded area but there were still some creepy paparazzi in the area. I began to take off my coat to get to my undershirt that read “Will you marry me?” Thinking back, she probably thought I was drunk or something because it was mad brick! I got down on my knee, opened the magic box, and pulled the bling out. She thought I was playing around! I made a rookie mistake by leaving the price tag on it. From her smiling and laughing at me while I’m fumbling and tearing the tag with my teeth, shivering, and a lady in the back trying to film tearing up, she said YES!
