We met through a mutual friend at our church. Anthony was on staff as the Productions Manager guy and I volunteered with the children’s ministry. One day, I was in a bad car accident and my current boyfriend at the time was not responding to any of my messages. Anthony picked up the phone and Anthony guided me on what to do and waited until I let my work know I was not coming in. Months later after my breakup, we both went to another mutual friend's birthday party. Being the gentleman he is , Anthony walked me out and got my number and wanted me to text him that I got home safely. After that we started a Bible Study together. The rest is history.
March 11th, 2015 was our first date. Originally, the date wasn't going to be a date, but a group movie watching experience with a few friends. Anthony finally let me know that there would be no other people going than just us. It was a date! We knew we had crushes on one another beforehand, and on March 10th, 2015, we had told one another as such. Thus, March 11th, 2015 was our first date. I remember hugging him immediately and saying “I am grateful for you!” We went to a restaurant, saw a scary movie and all was great until Anthony never messaged me he got home safely. Finally, he responds to tell me he was in the hospital. He was too much of a gentleman to tell me the food was not agreeing with him. Needless to say, his mom and I were on the phone with each other keeping each other calm until he got home safely.
2020 was a year of great things: good and bad. Yet, love still found a way to win. While on the shore, hidden behind some mangroves, Anthony told me how much he loved me, what we've been through over the years, and how wonderful this relationship has been. He asked in the same location where we love to see the little crabs pop out of the sand. I saw it as any normal day. After, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! While in complete shock, I said yes with tears in my eyes and jumped into a hug. At this point I still hadn't looked at the ring, but I knew that he thought so much about this ring. Things I told him over the years he listened to, and implemented it onto the ring. When it was all over, I made Anthony sit down and tell me all the details how our parents and friends all knew this was happening. Anthony had asked my dad for his blessing the Thursday before. My Dad showed Anthony our new fans we had installed. Then when Anthony came on Monday, my dad showed him our new fans again this time in front of me. I didn’t know Anthony had already seen them... Anthony proposed on December 23rd, 2020 in Philippe Park in Safety Harbor.
