Yes, but they are unnecessarily shy about their skill level. Most people in Poland speak 2+ languages fluently, and everyone you interact with at a hotel, shop, or restaurant will speak English. At the reception there may be a few folks who don't speak English.
Current plan is to be in Warsaw Wed/Thurs (8/22 or 23) through Monday the 27th. At this time we've only booked our flights to and from Europe. Flying into and out of London (LHR) on August 19th/September 2nd. Flights between cities in Europe are cheap and plentiful and you don't get penalized for one-way flights like you do in the US.

No, Poland uses their own currency, the Zloty (PLN). Since they aren't on the Euro the exchange rate is favorable for Americans. Currently about 1 US dollar is worth 4 Zloty. Beers are about 4 Zloty in Warsaw so it's always Dollar Beer Night!
