In July 2024, Daniel & Ally started messaging each other. The first thing they talked about was what song would best describe themselves and the conversation never stopped. Daniel asked Ally to meet at 7 mile to have breakfast. They went out on their first date and talked about how Texas was, what they did for work, how school was in high school and college. Things you immediately ask to get to know someone. Around 11 am, both had to part ways: Daniel needed to get some sleep, and Ally was preparing to go back to the Philippines.

On the morning of Ally's flight, no news or whatsoever from Daniel. She thought that might be best since Texas and Philippines is long distance without a doubt. Before boarding the plane, Daniel asked how they could stay in touch. In that moment, Ally knew it was the start of a wonderful friendship. Somewhere along the way, they realized they were on the same page, that they are now dating. In the months that followed, they did their best to be present in each other’s lives by watching shows, playing games, reading, and baking together. Eventually, Daniel asked if he could visit the Philippines to meet Ally’s family. In which he did!

Mostly hanging out virtually to be around each other was the way, especially weekends on Discord. You’d think on their first few dates they’d be watching a series or a movie together. Instead, they spent most weekends playing chess and bantering back and forth. Daniel always plays Black, and Ally takes White. Often times the game ends in a draw, which leads to their never ending rematches.
