This is worth the trip! Excellent!
A street filled with clothing boutiques, antique stores, restaurants, and bars. Our favorite areas are around Magazine & Ninth (3000-4000) and Magazine & Joseph (5400-5500).
Great spot for a walk or run. It's on the Streetcar route across from Tulane. Located two miles from the Hampton Inn, it's 1.8 miles around the inner loop and about 3 miles if you add the loop behind the Zoo along the river (The Fly).
An authentic New Orleans Sno-Ball.
Take the Streetcar ($1.25) and get off at the River Bend. A New Orleans tradition. Burgers, omelets, and a chocolate freeze are the specialties. Sit inside for the true experience. Daiquiri's is a few doors down.
Very casual.
A true hole-in-the-wall with delicious po-boys.
Very good po-boys! VERY casual.
Po-Boys (try the Debris!), breakfast all day, plus all traditional New Orleans fare (Etouffee, Gumbo, Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya, etc... You may have to wait in line.
New Orleans fare, Sandwiches, Salads, etc. Delicious. A local favorite.
Great sandwiches, salads, etc. A local favorite.
A cafe for breakfast or lunch on Maple Street. Maple Street has some cute boutiques as well.
A very fun Indoor/Outdoor bar with limited food. Very casual. Do not walk.
Indoor/Outdoor Craft Beer Bar
A relaxing porch on the streetcar line. More of a bar than a dining destination but they do serve food.
Great views of the the city.
Best after dark. A New Orleans establishment. Home of the original cheese fries. Very close to the Hampton Inn.
A hole in the wall for late night (not before 11:00/12:00) fun. DO NOT WALK.
Cafe du Monde is at the French Market in the Quarter across from Jackson Square. Cafe Beignet is on Royal Street (334 Royal) which is great for Antique shopping.
Open Air Bar on Bourbon. Perfect to watch Bourbon Street from a bar stool.
This is one block off Bourbon Street. It's more sophisticated than Bourbon Street bars.
A beautiful downtown bar.
The Piano Bar and the Patio are nice. It can be a nice bar but recommend skipping the Hurricane!
These bars are more suited for the young or the very young-at-heart! Frequented during fraternity formals.
