“This one time at band camp...”

The beginning of our story

Casey and Aaron met during a game of capture the flag at Lebanon Valley College's Marching Band Camp. Aaron was in the "jail" and Casey was guarding the jail when she noticed a tattoo on Aaron's arm. She realized that his bass clef tattoo perfectly matched her treble clef tattoo! Aaron escaped, Casey chased him but couldn't keep up despite leaping over a shrub in the process. And thus a music-nerdy friendship began. Both loved music and had many shared experiences together while in college: being in ensembles together, being members of the music fraternity and sorority, and hanging out with mutual friends. When Aaron graduated in 2011, they went their separate ways, not knowing that Aaron would soon move only 20 minutes from where Casey's parents were living. The two reconnected after nearly two years apart and have been inseparable ever since. They moved in together with their friend and co-best man, Jason, and eventually moved into their own place.

The Proposal

Casey and Aaron were spending Thanksgiving 2016 with Aaron's family at a beach house on the Outer Banks in North Carolina. The first full day they spent there, Aaron's family was going to see the wild horses, but Aaron insisted that he and Casey go to a lighthouse that the family had visited the day before. Casey and Aaron drove to the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. The weather was beautiful and after climbing the 220 steps they finally made it to the top. They caught their breath (because, c'mon... that's a lot of steps!) and Casey proceeded to take pictures and videos of the breathtaking view. After a few minutes Casey said, "Ok! I'm done with the phone. I'm putting it away because I need to be better at being IN the moment. So I'm going to be IN the moment!" Aaron wrapped Casey in a hug and said, "I love you a lot, ya know?" Casey, not thinking anything of it, said, "Yeah I know, I love you too." Then Aaron said he had something he had been meaning to ask her. She said, "Ok, what's up?" Aaron took the ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked, "Will you marry me?" Casey screamed a little and shouted, "OHMYGOD! YES!!!"
