A beautiful and diverse 1,200 acre arboretum with active research and a huge variety of gardens. Our venue is practically right next door, so a stroll, drive, or guided tour through the arboretum would be a fantastic activity the day before or morning of our wedding.
The MSP and West metro area has a fabulous system of parks and trails for runners, cyclists, water-goers, and everyone else. It's hard to go far in the area without stumbling on a lovely green space. We will be close to the huge Carver Park Reserve, and the classic Lake Minnetonka Regional Park.
If you feel like exploring more of the metro area, these next three recommendations are must-sees! General admission is free and tickets are not usually needed! Be sure to check out Claire's favorites: the Period Rooms, the marble "Veiled Lady," and the Frank Lloyd Wright Hallway! Other art museums well worth a visit to are: Weisman Art Museum on the UMN Campus, Minnesota Sculpture Garden and adjoining Walker Art Museum, and The Museum of Russian Art.
This is a donation-based zoo and conservatory with some of the most beautiful gardens! Check out the lovely Sunken Garden's where Claire's brother, Evan, was married! This is a great place to let the kids run off some steam while you get zen in the Japanese Garden.
A great science museum in St. Paul with the super fun 3M Omnitheater! Other great sites to visit are The Bell Museum of Natural History (near the UMN St. Paul campus!), the James J. Hill House, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Paisley Park, Minnesota History Center, and The Swedish Institute. Honestly, there's too many to list. Just go to exploreminnesota.com and go nuts! One of the best kids museums is the Minnesota Children's Museum, also in St. Paul and is absolutely worth a stop if visiting with the kiddos!
