We are taking our Flatbush Love Story to Punta Cana

Some love stories begin with a spark, others with fate quietly setting the stage. For Jamilah and Michael, it was the latter. They first met at a mutual friend’s event, exchanging Instagram pages without much thought. Life moved on, and their paths drifted apart...until destiny stepped in. Months later, Jamilah, serving as the Acting Program Director for a Young Adult Student program, was tasked with selecting a guest speaker for the students’ graduation. Something told her to choose Michael. He was honored and grateful for the opportunity, and as a token of appreciation, he asked if he could take her out as a “thank you.” That simple brunch on Flatbush Avenue on July 2, 2016, turned out to be the beginning of something extraordinary. Ironically, that same day, Jamilah packed her bags and moved from Brooklyn to Maryland. But distance never stood in their way. Nearly every weekend, Michael traveled to see her, proving with every trip that love isn’t about proximity; it’s about effort, consistency, and choosing each other time and time again. Together, they built their relationship on a foundation of adventure, meaningful conversations, and unwavering faith. No matter how busy life became, they always made it a priority to pray together each morning and night, anchoring their love in something greater than themselves. As time passed, their love grew, and so did their family. In October 2020, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Milah, and in September 2022, their adorable son, Michel, completed their hearts. In July 2021, they took another major step in their journey by purchasing their first home, a space filled with love, laughter, and the dreams they had built together. Then, in a beautiful full-circle moment, the date that started it all, JULY 2ND became even more significant. On 7/2/24, Jamilah and Michael officially became husband and wife. As they prepare to celebrate their big wedding day on 7/2/26, they reflect on a journey that has been anything but ordinary. Flatbush was just the beginning. Their love has crossed state lines, weathered challenges, and blossomed into something unbreakable. This is more than just a love story, it is their story.
